أهم محافظات هذا السهل الكبير:<br /><br />* محافظة درعا والتي تحتوي على الكثير من المدن الرئيسية منها مدينة نوى وهي ثاني أكبر تجمع سكاني في حوران. ومدينة جاسم ومدينة الصنمين ومدينة إزرع ومدينة الحراك ومدينة داعل( دائيل ) وهي تسمية أرامية تعني بيت الإله وقرية ابطع وطفس وخربة غزالة ودير البخت و دير العدس.<br /><br />* محافظة أربد في الأردن تقع في أقصى شمال الأردن, وتمتد حدودها لتصل إلى الحدود الأردنية السورية, حيث نهر اليرموك, وتعد المناطق الشرقية من المحافظة جزءًا من سهل حوران الممتد بين سوريا والأردن ، بينما تطل الأجزاء الشمالية على هضبة الجولان, أما من الغرب فتتكون المنطقة جغرافيا من هضاب متوسطة الارتفاع, تنخفض تدريجيًا لتصل إلى ما دون مستوى سطح البحر في غور الأردن. بينما تمتد المناطق الجنوبية منها في منطقة المزار الشمالي ذات الجبال العالية والطبيعة الساحرة المتاخمة ل جبال عجلون.<br /><br />[عدل] اقليم حوران<br /><br />حوران عبارة عن اقليم جغرافي متكامل يضم الهضبة الواقعة بين حوض دمشق في الشمال ومنخفض وادي اليرموك وجبال عجلون ومنخفض وادي الازرق ووادي السرحان في الجنوب والجنوب الشرقي كما تمتد بين جبل الشيخ وهضبة الجولان في الغرب والجنوب الغربي والبادية من الشرق ولقد كانت حوران تضم جبل العرب وجبل الجادور وجبال اللجاه وجبال الجولان وعجلون وسهل عجلون وسهل حوران وسهل النقرة.<br /><br />[عدل] تسمية حوران<br /><br />يعتقد انه التسمية جاءت من اللغة الارامية (حوريم بلد الكهوف، او من اللغة السبئية&quot; بمعنى البلد الاسود) اما الاشوريون فسموها (حورانو: أي النقرة) في حين سموها اليونان والرومان&quot; اورانتيس&quot; وقد ورد ذكرها في التوراه باسم &quot;باشان، باثان: بلد العجول السمينة&quot; كما سميت بلاد العمالقة، اما العرب في الجاهلية فسموها حوران بمعنى الملجأ او الكهف.<br /><br />[عدل] سكان حوران<br /><br />1. الرفائيون &quot;العمالقة&quot;: ينتسبون إلى جدهم رافا الجبار وهم آراميون سموا بالجبابرة سكنوا حوران منذ 2500 ق.م والمشهور من ملوكهم الملك عوج الجبار ملك حوران الذي كان طول سريره حوالي خمسة امتار وعرضه اربعة اذرع (حسب الرواية التناخية).<br /><br />2. الآموريون: ينتسبون إلى اموري رابع اولاد كنعان ويعني اسمهم سكان الجبال وهم من اقوى القبائل حيث اشتهروا ببسالتهم، وسطوتهم وطول قاماتهم ومن ملوكهم &quot;سيحون&quot; وقد شاركهم بسكنى حوران قبيلتي العمونيين، والموآبيين&quot; ينتمون إلى موآب بكر انبة لوط الكبرى، &quot;ومن ملوكهم عجلون وبالاق ابن خفور(حسب الرواية التناخية).<br /><br />3. الايطوريون: ينتسبون إلى ايطور بن إسماعيل بن إبراهيم خليل الله وقد سكنوا اللجاه وتنسب اليهم مملكة ايطوريا &quot;الجيدور&quot; وهم اخوة الانباط ويعتقد ان هذه القبيلة قد بادت، او اختلطت مع غيرها من القبائل.<br /><br />4. الحوريون: مجموعات بشرية من منطقة القوقاز هبطت نحو منطقة الهلال الخصيب واندمجوا مع سكانه<br /><br />5. الآشوريون :فتحوا حوران وفي عام 645 ق.م زحف آشور بانيبال على دمشق وحوران واستقر فيها حتى جاءت جموع السيثيين&quot; التتر&quot;.<br /><br />6. السلوقيون: كانت حوران من ممتلكات السلوقيين &quot;نسبة إلى سلوقس أحد قادة جيوش الاسكندر في سورية&quot;.<br /><br />7. الأنباط: قدم الانباط إلى حوران في القرن الاول قبل الميلاد &quot;88 ق.م&quot; كانوا يكتبون ويتكلمون اللغة الارامية، ويعتقد ان اخر ملوكهم هو زامل الذي انتهى حكمه عام &quot;105م&quot;.<br /><br />8. الرومان: احتل الرومان سورية عام &quot;64 ق.م&quot; وتم تشكيل ولاية عربية في بصرى الشام.<br /><br />9. الضجاعم: ينتسبون إلى احدى فروع سليح وقد قدموا من سبأ في اليمن وينقسمون إلى مناذرة سكنوا في بلاد ما بين النهرين وشكلوا مملكة الحيرة والى تنوخيين تفرقوا في حوران، ودمشق اخر ملوكهم زياد ابن الهبولة وتنصروا بعهد ملكهم عمر بن مروان بن الحاف.<br /><br />10. الغساسنة: ينتسب بنو غسان إلى جدهم مزيقياء وهو عمر بن عامر، قدموا إلى حوران في اوائل القرن الثالث الميلادي واول من نزل منهم على عين ماء غسان هو ماء السماء عامر بن حارثه الغطريف ابن امرؤ القيس البهلوي من سلالة نوح الجد الثاني للعالم، عرف بنو مزيقياء في حوران بالغساسنة والمناذرة بالعراق، والازدفي منى، والاوس في المدينة، وخزاعة بجوار مكة، ثم تفرق شمل الغساسنة بعد الفتح الاسلامي وانتشروا في معظم القرى الحورانية ومنهم من اسلم ومنهم من بقي على نصرانيته.<br /><br />11. الجوامسة: وقد جاؤوا مع الفتح الاسلامي من مكة المكرمة وهم من سلالة بن نفيل بن عبدالعزى بن رياح بن عبد الله بن قرط بن رزاح بن عدي بن كعب بن لؤي أبناء عم عمر بن الخطاب وقد شاركوا في معركة اليرموك . وقد وصلوا مع جيوش المسلمين حتى فتح القسطنطينية . وسموا كذلك لقوتهم وضخامة أجسامهم ومايزالوا في حوران إلى وقتنا الحالي.<br /><br />[عدل]
